Certificate III in Commercial Cookery students showcased their talent to staff and agents at a buffet at RGIT Australia Main campus on Tuesday, 27 March 2018.
Sangpil Huang is an international student, and has been studying Commercial Cookery Certificate III at RGIT Australia for the past nine months with Hospitality Trainer, Ujjal "Monty" Singh Sardar. The industry, according to Sangpil, is forever evolving. With seven years in the industry working in South Korea, Ireland and Australia, Sangpil knows his way around the kitchen, and says that there is always more to learn.
“I have worked in hospitality in Europe, Asia, and now Australia. I think that Australia is the best place to work if you want to work in the hospitality industry. There’s a great multicultural atmosphere. For example, there aren’t many Italian chefs in Korea!”
Before studying at RGIT Australia, Sangpil worked at an Italian restaurant for a number of years, where he says he saved a lot of money. Studying in two of the world’s most liveable cities, Melbourne and Hobart, also provides students with a rich, multicultural educational experience.
“I enjoy studying with friends at RGIT Australia, who are from all around the world,” says Sangpil. “They all have a passion for cooking, and we all have lunch together. Everyone brings to the table different skills and backgrounds. I think it’s better to learn.”
When asked where in the world he prefers to work in hospitality, Sangpil says, “I love working in hospitality in Australia, especially in western restaurants. There is so much variety in Melbourne. I have been in Australia for three years now, and I look forward to developing my skills and succeeding in Australia for many years to come.”
