RGIT Australia COVID-19 Latest Updates

RGIT Australia is working with the Australian and Victorian authorities in relation to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. RGIT Australia will continue to act on the advice from these authorities to maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff, students and visitors to our campuses.

Term 3 Orientation Day 2020

Orientation Day for VET students commencing at RGIT Australia's Melbourne and Hobart Campuses in Term 3, 2020 will be made available from Monday, 30 June 2020RGIT Australia's Orientation Day is taking place virtually on this occasion, due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

 

How can I complete Orientation?

New Restrictions Effective 22 June 2020 (Victoria)

  • From 22 June the number of visitors that you can have to your home has reduced to five visitors. Outdoor gatherings have reduced to a maximum group of ten people.
  • Restaurants, pubs, auction halls, community halls, libraries, museums and places of worship remain at a maximum of 20 people in any one space until 12 July.
  • Businesses including gyms, cinemas, theatres and TABs can open, with a maximum of 20 people per space.

New Changes from 11:59PM, 31 May (Victoria)

In line with advice from the Chief Health Officer, the Victorian Government has announced some further easing to restrictions.

From 11:59pm 25 May, in line with schools returning to face-to-face learning, public playgrounds, outdoor communal gym equipment and skateparks will be opened. Physical distancing and group limits remain in place.

From 11:59pm on 31 May the following changes will come into effect.

COVIDSafe App

The COVIDSafe app speeds up contacting people exposed to coronavirus (COVID-19). This helps support and protect you, your friends and family.

Gradual Easing of Restrictions (Victoria) - New Restrictions Effective 11.59 pm on 12 May 2020

Restrictions are currently in place in Victoria. Effective 11.59pm on Tuesday, 12 May 2020, the government is telling Victorians there are only 5 reasons to be out:

  • shopping for what you need - food and essential supplies
  • medical, care or compassionate needs
  • exercise in compliance with the public gathering requirements
  • work and study if you can’t work or learn remotely
  • visiting friends and family - if you really need to

Police can issue fines for non-compliance with these restrictions.

Emergency Support For Victoria’s International Students

We are pleased to inform you that the Victorian Government has announced a $45 million fund to support international students in Victoria facing hardship as a result of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is an initiative by the Victorian Government to support the international student community.
