RGIT Australia’s Hospitality students had an excursion to the kitchen workshop at Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex in Southbank on Friday, 14 February 2020.
The Valentine’s Day excursion saw the institute's Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Diploma of Hospitality mingle at a buffet lunch.
Proving a perfect opportunity to fulfill the requirements for the unit, the Diploma students reported on compliance, regulations and policies applied by laws such as responsible service of alcohol (RSA), Workplace Health and Safety (WHS), food safety, consumer law and other workplace policies and procedures. Commercial Cookery students developed menus for special dietary needs.
Students developed their hands-on knowledge with exposure to the industry by observing how their current unit application takes place in a workplace environment.
